BioResource and Agricultural Engineering major Grace Mazzilli ’22 was awarded the Gary Pendleton/CAIA Scholarship, given annually to a rising student for distinguished scholarship. Mazzilli received the award at the CAIA Fall Meeting on September 16, 2021.
Nominated by Stuart W. Styles D. Engr, P. E., C. I. D., Director of the Irrigation Training & Research Center (ITRC), Mazzilli was praised for her determination and work ethic in and outside of the classroom. Grace has been working at the ITRC as an engineering technician.
“I believe that Grace will be an outstanding water professional in the future,” said Director Stuart Styles in the nomination letter. “She has already proven to be resourceful and efficient on projects.”
Professor and Department Head Peter Livingston, PhD, PE added that Mazzilli “is a hard working and goal-orientated student interested in a career in the field of water resource engineering.”
The Gary Pendleton/CAIA Scholarship was created in honor of Gary Pendleton. A prominent participant and longtime member of the CAIA, Gary had a passion for serving others. His legacy lives on by aiding students with a desire to pursue a career in the agricultural irrigation industry.
